Workshop on Pattern Formation and Transport Phenomena

The Federal University of Paraķba in Brazil and the Consortium of the Americas for Interdisciplinary Science (of the University of NewMexico) in the USA are co-organizing a Workshop on Pattern Formation and Transport Phenomena will be held in Joćo Pessoa, PB, Brazil, from the 7th to the 11th of August, 2005.

The workshop is one in a series of such events supported by the Consortium of the Americas (please see http://consortium.unm.edu/) to bring about collaborations among scientists of Latin America and the USA. The Workshop themes will include the dynamics of granular materials, pattern formation and the origin of friction on the nano and meso scales, as well as some other related phenomena.

Joćo Pessoa, the site of the Workshop, is located in the North-east of Brazil. It is the third-oldest city in Brazil (founded in 1485), the second-greenest city in the world, and boasts wonderful beaches of warm water.
